VALUABLE OBJECTS curated by ADELA MARIA MARIUS

The exhibition “Valuable objects” brings together Romanian artists and designers who, through their practice, rebuild industries and re-establish values. Designed to go beyond simple appreciation of shapes, the exposition weaves, births and follows the path to the final object and moreover it goes through the process of becoming the object. Built around the theme: house / home, the exhibitions can be followed through the spaces, small intimate islands that encounter the visitor and re-establish the values of Romanian designers.

DAYDREAMING curated by ADELA MARIA MARIUS

The Daydreaming exhibition, which tells a story about the freedom to dream, originated in a striking statement of Paul Gauguin’s: I shut my eyes, in order to see. In acknowledgement of all we have lived through in this period, under the same sky – separately, but, most likely, always together – the exhibition represents an invitation to accept the beautiful within us, born along by the unimagined courage of leaving ourselves at the mercy of the moment of falling asleep that lulls us within ourselves, of stepping out towards that place where no limits, no impossibility, no disasters or earthquakes exist: our interior selves.

Daydream revolves around a foundational piece, Daybed, a limited series work created by Radu Abraham in collaboration with eight women artists who speak in different ways about dreaming: Ana Adam, Ioana Sisea, Jesse Kase, Ioana Stanca, Oana Nastasache, Lea Rasovsky, Pusha Petrov, and Jazmin Grinbaum.

FORM FOLLOWS FEELING curated by CARMEN CASIUC

Turning on its head the assertion of American architect Louis Sullivan to technical rationalism that defined the good design of 20th century, form follows feeling takes a conceptual approach to object-making which seeks to cover the gap between the internal experience of visceral or reflective emotions and constructive feelings. In a playful romance with the inanimate, the selection curated by Carmen Casiuc brings together artworks, limited artist editions and unique pieces of design which are all functional, but quite impractical or uncomfortable, decorative elements and things of a new kind. The authors blend elements from the modern world with an Arts and Crafts style, high-jacking the performativity of their objects in favor of a poetics of design that champions cultural and psychological enquiry within the objects. The sensual impressions, behavioral patterns and reflexive thoughts arising in the relationship with the objects provide us rich insights into profoundly human stories and what makes us “functional”.
